Each county fair lasts from three to five days. In that period, the participants' yearlong commitment culminates in an exhaustive and explosive outlet of selfexpression.Weariness, elation, humility, humor, camaraderie, pride, and disappointment are inextricably bundled together as readily as the random grasses in a bale of hay. My portraits are intended to reflect the passion of this truly American phenomenon.

Slowly a lilong, the traditional lane crammed with small houses is emptied and tearing down begins, while some dwellers refuse the compensation deemed too small and decide to stay. Electricity and water are cut leaving them on harsh conditions, it’s pointless to resist since none will be stopping the plans for which developers are invested millions of dollars.
