Do
you remember your childhood? Do you remember
where you grew up and how you played with
your friends? This long-term project shows
three years of a group of children in different
parks in Cologne in a unique photographic
language. After the birth of his two children
Dirk Gebhardt started to observe how there
grow up in public parks. Without the influence
of their parents children develop their own
rules and discover the world by playing.

Rio-Santos
9Places
This reportage has
won international awards. The Rio-Santos
project tells the intimate story of nine
places along a small Brazilian coastal street
called the Rio-Santos. Whether farmers,
fishermen and gas station attendants, they
all are part of a divided society. Dirk
Gebhardt´s photographs chart their
lives, from the idyllic, rural setting of
Fazenda Sao João to Rio´s urban
beaches.
